  what lovely scenes! until that photographer gets tackled and tased for taking photographs. he should know we have new security concerns since 9/11!

  Well that all looks pretty fascinating in a Planet of the Apes futuristic sort of way. Love the photographer with the long lens and camera bag. What could be of interest? Toxic waves? Bloated dead fish floating in the canal? I love the woman strolling with the shopping bag. Where is she going? To Joe’s Superette on Smith for some rice balls??? Why isn’t there a rendering of the dirty, filthy packed F train platforms? Or the, probably, finished by then, Smith & Ninth station? This all looks promising enough and it could be much more hideous. (They didn’t show the radon dectors in the rendering, though.) I am just wondering how Rogers Marvel are going to shrink there big scale ideas for the Long Shorman’s building… and If they will care what the neighbors think. So, RM, will you???? And where’s the Union Labor?

  There is also a woman carrying a basket brimming with produce…Funny, this does not show the cars these people will be driving. No one is gonna walk anywhere from this place especially to some quaint, toxic farm or the Farmer’s market or Whole Foods…

  That must be plastic grass to keep the coal-gas-fumes inthe dirt from overtaking everyone.

  Is anyone else creeped out by the faux-photographs they use? Are they real are aren’t they? Where do they get these pictures?

  Also, the pessimist in me says “yeaaa fucking right” about this whole thing. Way too much greenery to be even remotely achievable.

  I think the development and greening of Gowanus is possible, but before development the canal needs to be cleaned. Bioremediation is a good start to introduce to the canal.

  This is possible through floating “islands” that filter the water, they did this in the pond at the White House.

  Re: Remediation for the canal… oh Baby, I hate to be the one to tell you, but…we have a long way to go before simple ‘remediation’ with little floating filters will fix that!

  i hate hearing all these againster comments from people who have nothing better to do that throw mud on other people’s ideas. it’s the same kind of sentiment that put galileo in jail. i guess you’d rather that area continue to be a dump where bums sleep and take deuces in broad daylight.
