When a Park Slope warehouse on Second Street near Fourth Avenue was demolished recently, it revealed an old ad for the stomach remedy Castoria on the side of an adjacent building. The big site is slated to be a four-story, 21-unit building designed by Karl Fischer Architect, best known for his work on Bayard Street adjacent to McCarren Park.

Very cool! I often am on the look out for signage from another era as buildings and storefronts chage hands. Recently in Rockville Centre, a store was being renovated to make way fro a new coffee shop. For about 3 days, until the new awning was installed, an old “Toys, Candy and Stationary” sign, in 1940’s era type was revealed. The sad thing is that no one from the local historical society or newspaper bothered to take any photos. Good luck hunting and keep us posted.
