Brookbit: What’s Up at Park Slope’s Red Hot?

February 26th, 2008 · 5 Comments

We’re putting this in the rumor category because we haven’t personally passed by, but only seen an email: Park Slope’s Red Hot Szechuan, at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Tenth Street may be finsihed. An email says that it’s closed with no explanation. We add a grain of salt because the last time such a rumor floated around it turned out the restaurant was being redone a little and was only closed for a few days.–GL Inbox

c’mon. anyone who’s lived in the neighborhood a while knows there is no way Red Hot could close – it’s by far the most popular Chinese in the Slope – they do a damn good business…why would they close?

9:19 Mmmm roaches. Vegetarian-friendly, high in protein and delicious with a little hoisin sauce.

Why would they close? I’m not familiar with the management of this particular place but can say that the long, intense hours aren’t for everyone. Another Chinese place I loved closed down in the last few months because the owner decided to return to Wall Street, where the hours and workload were saner.
