We have seen many raccoons sauntering around Brooklyn, but we’re always amused by tales of raccoon sightings and reactions to them. This email comes from the Boerum Hill group on Yahoo: I saw a large raccoon last night, proceeding calmly down the south side of State between Smith and Hoyt, going up and down each […]

The redesign of 360 Smith Street unveiled last week at a Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association meeting by the developer, Billy Stein, continues to elicit reaction from residents. Street Couch Series: Sofa + Love President’s Day Special
February 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment
This isn’t strictly a street couch in the sense of being out in the street because it’s unwanted or put there for the purpose of seating, but today is President’s Day and this “Sofe & Love” special for $279 definitely fits. It comes from Graham Avenue in East Williamsburg and comes to us thanks to […]

The Purchase Building under the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the first structures slated to come down as part of construction of Brooklyn Bridge Park. The building is now empty, so the police blockade of New Dock Street next to it is done too. Sadly, you still can’t get to the Esplanade on the water, […]

This is the corner of N. 8 Street and Roebling. We have previously featured the stop sign in question, but it’s been joined by a “Lift Plow Blade” sign. The challenge, however, is seeing them through the construction scaffolding at the Karl Fischer building on the corner. Bricks now stacked in street make the game […]
