There’s a new blog in Sheepshead Bay called Sheepshead Bites. It is billed as “Sheepshead Bay’s community meetings, development issues, local politics, interesting people, happenings and cool new places — these are just some of the beats the Bite will walk. Welcome to Sheepshead Bites. Real Brooklynites. Real teeth.”
The blogger mentions something about our remarks at this year’s blogfest, in which we again mentioned that communities like Sheepshead Bay are seriously “under blogged,” as one of the motivations for starting the blog:
these over-educated trust-fund hipsters have a point. The few neighborhoods in Brooklyn that still feature real Brooklynites, local characters, and compelling, complex issues are going under-reported in both the established media and the online blogosphere (ugh!). And while most of our neighbors sink further into either apathy or Monday morning quarterback-style governance, our communities are going on without us. They’re leaving their flair and character behind, and moving forward in erratic, worrisome ways. So yes, over-educated trust-fund hipsters, you have a point. Now it’s time we steal from your toolbox, and present our neighbors with useful, well-explained information and foster debate on the issues of our day.
“Over-educated trust-fund hipsters”? In any case, the most recent post is about how Best Western is buying up additional property on Emmons Avenue for development. Now, that’s the kind of coverage we’re talking about.

Thanks so much for the post. I appreciate the support. As for the “over-educated trust-fund hipster” remark… ’twas just a friendly jab. I’m a big admirer of GL, and hope we get a chance to meet up some day.
Happy posting,
NB

Disappointed to see you back down so fast – both of yall.
a) NB: Don’t front; There’s nothing friendly about calling someone a over-educated trust-fund hipster. If you said it you said it – don’t fake out. (btw, I’d like to learn a little more about your background… methinks thou doth protest too much;)
b) As for RG, what’s wrong with being an over-educated or a trust-fund hipster? Can we take the stigma off of having a little money? Everyone stop trying to out-poor each other this instant, or send me your money.
peace
