Our Carroll Gardens Correspondent filed this updated photo of the street sofa that has graced Coffey Street in Red Hook for some time. It’s, uh, getting a little bit trashy down there.

On Thursday evening as my friend and I were making our way to Valentino Pier there were two notes taped to the wall over that couch. The first one said something like, “This mess is courtesy of our new neighbors at 159 Coffey St. Thanks a lot.” and the second note said, “Well thanks for the warm welcome but that is not our mess. Feel free to introduce yourself.” Wish I had my camera on me. Yesterday morning the trash was gone and the couch had moved to the other side of the street and was now overturned.

How funny. It could have been the neighbors. They could have found mail inside. Why didn’t they just dump the trash on Beard in front of… I love Coffey Street. Nice homes everyone. Too bad you didn’t use your camera phone for the notes…why dosn’t someone just put the darn thing out to be collected???
