The power outages that affected parts of Park Slope, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge and Borough Park on Sunday have been mostly cleared up, at least, according to Con Ed’s outage map. (Each green triangle is 1-50 people without power). The trouble was caused by malfunctions with 4 of the 12 big feeder cables. About 2,000 homes and businesses were without power. Con Ed also reduced voltage to effected areas by 8 percent. Tens of thousands of customers were asked to cut back power use.

With all of these storms we keep losing power and finally decided to get an emergency generator. The hardware store was out of generators, so my husband searched and found one at mainpowerconnect.com we should now have the power needed when the next unexpected outage comes. The generator will keep the lights on, food cold and our air conditioning working. Hopefully the generator will also keep our sump pump working to protect the basement from flooding.
