Upcoming: Anti-Violence Rally in Williamsburg

July 29th, 2008 · 5 Comments

There’s been a lot of depressing violence on the Southside of Williamsburg in recent months, and there’s going to be a rally and concert on Saturday, August 2. It will take place from 5PM-10PM at Continental Plaza at Roebling and South 5th Street. There’s a mass at 7PM and it’s sponsored by a number of local churches. The image comes from Brooklyn 11211, which has a post up about the rally.

really useless – like the gang members are going to show up or care.

let’s deport them all ASAP instead.

I think that it’s a good faith effort to curb, or at least, pay attention to the increased gang activity in the area, but it won’t do a lot.

I think the protest should be against the police as well as gangs. We look to our cops to make our neighborhood safe.

Maybe if they take a break from tackling bicyclists and beating up random pedestrians, they should focus on this issue closer.

People who still romanticize the old burg with it’s old school crime waves will be thinking differently when their own friends or relatives get sliced by a machete.

    Wisco,

Where should we deport the white youth that are also involved?

Deport the white youth to Poland, I suppose.
