Pastosa Ravioli at 200 Court is history due to (surprise) what the owner says is a big rent increase. The word comes via an email we found on the BoCoCa Parents email list:
I stopped by Pastosa on Court Street today to pick up bread, cheese, etc. and was surprised to see the shelves practically empty. I asked the business owner what was happening. He said we was about to renew his lease but the building owner was raising his rent, a lot! Tomorrow is his last day. He is hoping to reopen somewhere in the neighborhood some day if he can find an affordable space. Please stop by and shop while he is still here. Pastosa, on Court St. between Warren and maybe Bergen.
Maybe Court Street will get another yoga studio or nail salon. Actually the space is too small. It is more suitable for a cell phone store.

The only surprise here is that the thing was open at all. It seemed like more of a hangout for the kids who worked at the store. they sat outside and smoked all the time, and if you went in to buy something, it wold take quite some time for anybody to wait on you. With so many other choices in the neighborhood, it’s no surprise.

The previous comment is correct. I had similar experiences. But it also proves a trend that the increases are going to cause a lot of small business to move. They can always put in a few Chase or Citibank ATMS in that small space.

The store being discussed above is actually not a Pastosa Ravioli location. In fact, the store is called Fratelli Ravioli. Pastosa Ravioli is not in any way a related entity of Fratelli Ravioli.
If you visit Pastosa Ravioli’s official company website, http://www.pastosa.com, there is no listing for a store on Court Street. The company’s flagship store on New Utrecht Avenue has been there since 1972.
