A little while ago, we had a rant from someone’s whose bike was knocked over and damaged by someone pulling out of a parking space. At least it wasn’t stolen, however:
Two of my motorcycles have been stolen within 6 weeks. Both were parked right in front of my house between Bond and Nevins. Both thefts occurred between 1a and 7a. First motorcycle was a Suzuki DRZ 400sm (prone to theft by most statistics) and the second was a Ducati Hypermotard. My girlfriend’s scooter has survived both of the assaults, minus a wheel which was chained to my Ducati.
The honorable wankers that have stolen the motorcycles clearly knew my schedule, the motorcycles, and how to steal them. By all appearances the job was very professional. I have been in touch with the 84th on several occasions and it appears that the neighborhood has experienced a rise in car break-ins and thefts recently.
Continuing with the vehicle-related theft and/or damage theme, there are also reports from Park Slope of a lot of broken car window glass being seen in the aftermath of an increase in break-ins.

At least four broken car windows on Fourth St. between 8/PPW and nearby 8th Ave. past week.
Definitely an epidemic.

I’ve seen shattered glass from probably 4 or 5 different break-ins over the past few weeks in Beorum and Cobble Hill… Bergen b/t smith and hoyt, Congress and Warren b/t court and clinton.
Luckily, my car is full of dog toys and mcdonalds wrappers

the breakins were also an epidemic on PPSW in Windsor Terrace. I filed a police report and was rather disappointed with the police officers response to me (after my car had been broken into twice). He confidently stated that all the “homeless and drug addicts” were breaking in. I disagreed bc a homeless person or an addict would take the change. The perp is looking for GPS. Anyway i filed a complaint with the city online, suggusting that the cops should do more to end break ins that they know about. I did receive a follow up call from the precinct (shocking!). my point being- file a report and a quality of life complaint with the city online.

Jesus Christ, you parked a Ducati Hypermotard on the street? A fool and his money…

dumb ass what do you think happens when you are near the projects. Maybe you can find a safer spot by the Marcy projects or Navy yard projects. There’s a reason why all the Italians stayed over by Court St. Just ask any old timer what Smith st. was like in the 1970’s.
