The former storefront on Seventh Avenue that we reported on a couple of weeks ago via a Special Neighborhood Correspondent is going to be a Brooklyn branch of the footwear mini-chain Eric. The main branch is on Third Avenue at E. 76 Street. And so, the former Seventh Avenue Block of Death between Second and Third Streets, which had four empty storefronts this winter and spring is or will be occupied by Barrio, Carmen’s Exclusives for Children, Kids Rx and Eric. Case closed until something else closes or moves.

I liked Second Street Cafe – it was sweet. I liked the TWO bookstores. The replacements just seem like ‘b’ versions of things that could be anywhere-ville, or more exacting Upper East Side of Manhattan. Is THAT what Park Slope is becoming?

I actually thought 2nd Street Cafe sucked. Barrio is certainly much better.
Two bookstores next to each other is not smart.
I welcome all 4 of these new places. I think they are actually HUGE improvements over the 4 stores they will/have replaced.

I am glad to see our neighborhood keeps changing and new shopping alternatives are available.
It is only a good sign to see new people interested in joining the area.
Barrio and Carmen’s Exclusives are certainly good taste additions to Park Slope.
I’d like to welcome all four new stores.

Eric is going to be a much needed addition to the hood. It will be so much better than having to go into the City for fashionable shoes or hoping to find something good at Daffy’s (which sometimes you really can). But it will be great to have a go to store when you want a good looking shoe.
