The latest Brooklyn raccoon sighting report (yes, we realize, there are a great many) is of interest because it comes from the Pacific Bears Garden, which and located at Pacific and Flatbush Avenue and would be a neighbor of the Atlantic Yards arena. Here’s an email on the Boerum Hill Group:
This from the Pacific Bears Garden (Pacific and Flatbush)…this last Saturday, just as things were winding down, we had a very special and unusual guest… A RACCOON!!!! No really, it wasn’t just the lushness talking, the critter tried to walk right in the Pacific Street gate!! We startled him, he ran down Pacific toward Flatbush then dashed through the fence into the garden. That’s a first.”
Maybe the little guy was looking for directions to the Target just up the street? (As a follow up, someone noted a backyard encounter with a raccoon on Warren Street between Bond and Nevins.)

We actually had a raccoon tear a hole in our screen and come into our house. Our visitor ate the cat food, rummaged around in our recycling and then swiped a package of English Muffins on its way out. And we live on the 4th floor! He’s been back, too. Very confident creature!

I saw a raccoon on Dean btwn 4th and 5 Aves. last week. He was just kind of ambling up and down people’s stoops, not really caring that a bunch of people were standing around staring at him.
My 2 favorite quotes from the other people who saw him:
“They can grab onto trees with their tails” and “Do you think it escaped from the zoo”

I saw a raccoon actually last week in Brooklyn Heights, on Clark St, and took a photo when it was hanging from some scaffolding and got stuck in some railings. The raccoon looked pretty freaked out actually, but pretty plump and well fed looking so I wondered if it had escaped from a zoo.

please help! …I saw a raccoon on Clermont Avenue (Brooklyn). He/she looked stuck at the window seal of a parlor floor… by all mean I thought he wasn’t doing well and done everything possible and impossible to get a rescuer come help… nothing! I got bounced btw 311, animal rescue something something, again, nothing. The poor thing spent the whole day up there up to the police and some nice neighbors wanted to call someone who will finally put him to sleep!!! I dealed on having them wait up to tomorrow, and I hope someone can help me finding a REAL rescue organization. He looked sick, maybe a car ran him over or so… don’t know but I can’t think that he should be put to sleep only because he is a wild animal… Pleas if anyone knows of a number I can call, I’ll be back there on Clermont and Dekalb (Fort Greene) tomorrow morning. Thank you!
