No Meep Meep: Time Warner Cable/Internet Outage Near GAP

October 17th, 2008 · 4 Comments

From the Park Slope Parents email list comes word of an “outage” in Time Warner cable and internet service somewhere around Grand Army Plaza that’s gone on for weeks. Here it is:

Is anyone else near Grand Army Plaza having issues with Time Warner Cable Service? Our phone, internet and cable have been out most days for the past 3 weeks. They sent out a tech who said that it was an issue that is outside of our building. Every time they schedule an appointment to do whatever it is they need to do outside, there is supposedly a service interruption in the neighborhood which prevents them from fixing the problem. So… we have been without phone, internet and cable for most of the past 3 weeks. Anyone else having an issue? Any suggestions on how to get this resolved?

There are also reports of “excessive problems” in parts of Clinton Hill. Our suggestion is find a new provider, but, until Fios comes along that’s pretty hard. Uh…meep, meep.

Hi — I’m the director of digital communications at Time Warner Cable. I just saw this post, and I’m really sorry to hear about this large, and apparently ongoing problem. I’ve just alerted the SVP/GM for Brooklyn/Queens, as well as the head of tech ops for that area. They are looking into it now and hopefully I can have some news for you soon.

If you have any more questions, feel free to e-mail me at jeff.simmermon@twcable.com.

    Thanks!

Time Warner Cable is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

I have had their wi-fi service for over a year and it has never worked well, and their incompetent tech crews come by all the time and fix nothing.

I can imagine that all of NY will turn to FIOS the minute they can

It’s funny, I’ve been having serious problems with the TWC service for almost 7 years and they have yet to repair it and so the minute I saw the response from Mr. Simmermon posted above, I sent him a message directly complaining about my issues too, and low and behold, I never got response to my email. Why does that not surprise me? Probably cause i’ve been promised the world with TWC and they have yet to get the same problem for the past 7 years. After all this time you get to feel as though it will never be resolved and I’ll never receive my justified credit. Sorry Mr. Simmermon, if I sound disgruntled, but you would too if you were treated the way your company has treated me all these years. Now if you resolve the issues once and for all and also give me credit for all these years, then I’ll be a truly happy camper. But till that happens, I’ll just always feel that since I’m just a little nobody (as well as others in my area) to TWC and we are not any important or wealthy people, then we will never get these matters seriously taken care of.

Oh btw, the area I’m referring to is Sunset Park.
And if TWC doesn’t get things together ASAP, then as soon as FIOS hits here, I’m afraid I’ll have to drop TWC like a bad habit.
