GL Reader Question: Gunshots Last Night in Carroll Gardens?

A GL reader asks if there was any, uh, shooting in Carroll Gardens last night. Saying there were “about 6 at around 1 am, i think…only heard a few sirens afterward, i suppose it could have been firecrackers or whatnot.” Anybody else know of gunplay in CG last night? We have no fix on the exact location.

    I heard it too — I’m sure it was just after 11, as it was right when John Stewart was getting started.

    I heard them too around 11:15. Shortly after a few cop cars sped down Degraw st. with their lights on but no sirens.

    I heard them to, after 11:00. five mins later the sound of sirens, although not many and not for long. I looked it up on Gothamist labs map but it wasn’t there. anyone know how to find out?

    Might have been something else . . . I hope so.

    Yeah, sorry, it was earlier than I initially thought. Unreliable witness. I was at President and Smith, sounded like it was west of there.

    Yes I heard 5 shots then a pause then 5 or so more. That clack clack clack. Just like the good ol days in CG circa 1989. May have been from the Gowanus Housing.

    It was fireworks. I can see them from my apt.

    They are from the boat on the Gowanus between Smith and Carroll. They usually like to set them off a couple times a month, often after midnight (it is most frequent in the summer).

    I think this blog (or one of the other area blogs) carried an story of someones ongoing battle with the police to do something about it. Basically the police don’t want to waste their time on it since they have more important things and it is impossible to catch the people in the act. Sorry, I will have to try to dig it up.

    I am on President near Bond and I also heard it. I think it was fireworks.
