The second part of the Roebling Oil Field development, well Warehouse 11, which is on the cleaned up former Roebling Oil property, is underway and the good old Empire pile driver is banging away on the property. The interesting thing is that it looks like they’re not digging down too far below grade for part two, although this could just be early work. If, they don’t, it won’t be the only building in the general area that hasn’t gone too deep and has pretty much laid a foundation barely below street level. It’s unclear what’s down there given the contamination that was uncovered when the original Roebling site was excavated a couple of years ago.

Looks like they’ve built a parking garage on the site too? Am I wrong?

I was going to buy a property in the area, and I found out the reason they don’t build cellars/basements in the area. It has nothing to do with the oil. The area is designated a hazard flood area, and its very expensive to build basements in the area because of that.

Yes it’s a parking garage – the developer is now throwing in parking spaces originally offered in the condo plan at abt $40k..
