The powers that be went out to the Fulton Mall, yesterday (11/19), and officially kicked of the great “Buy Brooklyn” (Or is it “Shop Brooklyn”?) as a borough wide event to promote spending your money here this holiday season.
Participating retailers, restaurants, bars, and other service providers will display a “Shop Brooklyn” logo in shop windows and offer special “Brooklyn Bonuses” on November 28 (“Black Friday”—now renamed “Brooklyn Friday”) and each weekend from November 22 through December 21.
For more information, visit the Shop Brooklyn website.

Hmmm…
Wondering whether the “Shop Brooklyn” campaign will feature locally-owned and -operated businesses, or just the national chains that Marty’s been working overtime to bring into Brooklyn. If “Shop Brooklyn” means supporting Victoria’s Secret and the other carpetbagging stores in Forest City Ratner’s “urban malls”, then this is nothing other than greenwashing.

Shop Brooklyn is a great idea. I live and work in Brooklyn. My business NYCwebStore.com is located in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Anyone wishing to “Shop Brooklyn” can use coupon code BROOKLYN during the checkout process on NYCwebStore.com for 10% off your entire order. Let’s Shop Brooklyn!
