The photographer writes that “Was walking though Ikea in Red Hook and saw lots of smoke in the distance. ” He lables the pic a “fire,” but it seems to have all the hallmarks of an incinerator, which release horrible amounts of sooty black smoke into the environnment.

Nope – it was a fire. Can’t tell you exactly what building or how extensive, but the ladder truck was there with the ladder extended over the roof of a building on Dwight St.

It was a fire, in a 3 story building on Richards between wolcott and dikeman. I think the only buildings in the hook that have incinerators are the projects.
