GL Reader Question: Who Were Those Musicians?

September 3rd, 2008 · 4 Comments

Every now and then, we feature a question from a GL reader that might be of interest to others. Here’s one that just arrived Monday evening” “Around 10:30, as I was walking my dog in Prospect Park (near the Third St. entrance) I saw and heard a quartet of musicians jamming and playing old-timey music, including a great version of ‘Been All Around This World.’ Does anyone know who they are and whether they perform anywhere in Bklyn?”

Interesting – and my kind of music too. I hope we find out who these folks are! Also would be interesting to know if they frequent the park.

Not sure who they are, but they frequently play at the Grand Army Plaza entrance on weekend afternoons.

    Hey crew-
Thanks for the complements! That’s a band called Briar Patch with myself (playing fiddle) and Charlie Shaw on guitar and then two of our friends Joe Costa and Joe Trudeau (on banjo and mandolin) from upstate. We also play at Grand Army Plaza on Saturday at the Farmers Market as well as the local NYC bluegrass/oldtime bars. Drop me a message at the myspace page to say hello! http://www.myspace.com/karidenisfiddle
