We always consider the beginning of ice skating season at the Wollman Rink in Prospect Park the official end of summer. So, it’s our duty to announce that summer ends on November 19 with the (weather dependent) beginning of the skate season. Per the official word from the park:

It’s time again to enjoy the fresh air experience of skating outdoors in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The Park’s Wollman Rink opens for the season on Wednesday, November 19 at 8:30 a.m. Opening date is weather permitting – the public can call (718) 287-6431 to confirm. Admission is:
• Adults: $5
• Children (14 and under) and Seniors: $3
Skate Rental: $6.50

The Prospect Park website will have info on special free admission days, theme music events and promotions.

The rink is open the following hours from November 19 – March 15, 2009:
Mondays 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Fridays 8:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturdays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 2 – 6 p.m.; 7 – 10 p.m.
Sundays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 2 – 6 p.m.

Thanksgiving Holiday Hours
Thursday, Nov. 27: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 2 – 6 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 28: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 2 – 6 p.m.; 7 – 10 p.m.

Wollman Rink is located near the Parkside and Ocean Avenue entrance to Prospect Park. Free parking is available. Enter the Park at Lincoln Road & Ocean Ave., Parkside & Ocean Aves., or Flatbush Ave. & Empire Blvd. (Willink entrance) and follow the directional signs. By train: Q, S, or B to Prospect Park Station. By bus: B-16, B-41, B-43 and B-48 will bring you close to the Park’s Willink entrance.
