Wow, not too many times people post pics that are from my neighborhood and exactly near where I grew up. I saw this station from my window. If you look at the upper half, it’s clearly poured cement that was put in place later on. Maybe in the 1990s? That “wall” used to be half the height and you could see more of the platform back then. Come 5 or 6pm each day, my dad would come into my room to look out the window to see if my mom got off the train after working in Carroll Street in what I no know was a sweatshop.
Not too sure how many kids grew up with the subway outside their window, but I feel it was a unique experience. And I even grew to love the noise!
