Here’s a part of Coney Island that most visitors or bloggers or New York Post reporters ever bother to visit. Fortunately, our dear contributor Deborah Matlack does. Here’s a view of the “other” Coney Island.

I lived in C.I all my life…where is this place?

It’s a vacant lot near the corner of Mermaid and, I think, West 19th Street. I sometimes lose track of which side street I’m on. As I was walking from Surf toward Mermaid, it was on my left.

Your photography is awesome. I’m surprised you don’t have a pic of Coney Island’s infamous yellow submarine on your site though. lol

Thank you very much! OK, I have shots of the “ghost ships” in Coney Island Creek, but I’m not sure where the “yellow submarine” is . . . would love to get a shot!
