The Don’t Demo Domino Concert in Grand Ferry Park in Williamsburg sponsored by the Waterfront Preservation Alliance of Greenpoint and Williamsburg drew hundreds of people yesterday, despite on-and-off rain that increased as the afternoon went on. Hundreds of signatures were collected on petitions calling for the landmarking of the buildings on Kent Avenue. Here’s a slideshow with some photos of the event.

Thanks for the pictures! Preliminary count is that we got 856 sigantures. Thanks to everyone who came out to support Domino! We hope to see a plan from the developers that incorporates affordable housing and preservation.

I think it looks like a bunch of racist white kids trying to prevent affordable housing in their nabe and trying to disguise it as a preservation campaign.

Affordable? There are proably over 30 developments currently underway in the area right now and all are condos in the greater than 300K range. When domino goes, those units will probably sell for 1.5 mil easy.
Eventually, the area will be as generic as the upper east side and all those white kids you see there will have to move deeper into Brooklyn or maybe even back home to middle America.
