It’s hard to resist both the images of and the chance to visit the “world’s oldest subway tunnel” under Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. Nate Kensinger has posted more photos of the tunnel on his blog, this time with the lights turned on, which wasn’t the case when the tours started. The tours (which cost $15) come courtesy of the Brooklyn Historic Railway Association and the next ones are tomorrow (Sunday, 8/12). Tours are at 11AM, 1PM and 3PM. Call 718-941-3160 to make reservations by phone or to get more information. The tours have been filling up quickly, but there was space left on the 1PM tour as of a few days ago. The blog Brooklyn Based had a nice post a few days ago about the tours and the man behind them. You can also check the group’s website for more info.
