Another One Bites the Dust: Sold on Guernsey

Nassau and Guernsey

We have no idea what is going to end up at the corner of Nassau Avenue and Guernsey Street in Greenpoint where the building in the photo above stands. What we do know is that we checked on its status after we noticed that the windows had been newly boarded up, and found that 24 Guernsey Street was sold for $10.8 million on January 8. The buyers are listed at the Whitehead Company and Flour and Sugar LLC through Kalmon Dolgin. More condos near McCarren Park, anyone?

Fuck these condos! I will now have a view of this ugly fucking thing instead of Manhattan – not to mention 3 hours less sunlight every day. Instead, I will have a view of flat screen TV’s and fake mod furniture.

Actually you can relax. This building is right on the zoning line and is not zoned residential. It was purchased by the owners of Kalmon Dolgin and they plan on renting it out as commercial space. I believe triple five soul is taking a lare portion of upper floors for offices. So now condos here for the foreseeable future. Thankfully.

Maybe someone will come to their senses at Whole Foods and finally open up a Williamsburg store. That space is more than big enough.
