In case you didn’t catch our scoop via GL reader yesterday, the Seventh Avenue Tempo Presto space mystery has been solved. The new Mexican eatery will be called Barrio. Our reader wrote that the “restaurant is going to be called Barrio. They seem to have only done cosmetic work (new tiles, some decorative woodwork, etc.). It looks like it’s going to be a very cool place…The chef is from Mexico and he said the food will be super authentic.–GL

Great, because even though Miracle is across the street, their food is terrible.

There’s plenty of authentic mexican food in Brooklyn. But I still can’t get a good mission burrito to save my life. *sigh*

don’t quite understand how there can be “plenty of authentic mexican food in Brooklyn” but you “can’t get a good mission burrito” to save your life. either you think La Taqueria is good AND authentic, or you don’t.
there’s nothing in NYC that can match what i can get in New Mexico or Arizona.

What makes you think that a Mission burrito is Mexican food? Or you also think that Nachos and cheese is Mexican? Try having carnitas, or barbacoa tacos, brain tacos, huitlacoche , or some good old cochinita pibil… But i guess for you a good old burrito is authentic Mexican food!!!
