Public Service Announcement: Have You Seen Cubby?

April 12th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Cubby is on the loose somewhere in North Brooklyn. Miss Heather, who sent us the photo, also wrote: “I cannot tell you how many lost dog fliers I have seen over the last three days. All are for ‘toy’ and/or purebreds.” She has posted a different one on New York Shitty, as well.

People are idiots. My heart aches for them, but, dogs should be kept inside or left at home. Not tied up in front of some bodega or loose in a back yard. This isn’t Mayberry rfd.

This has been a common crime for a long long time. Purebred dogs WILL be stolen. They don’t have to be tiny. Mid-size ones like terriers will be stolen too. The world is full of immoral idiots who will literally do anything for a little money, and it’s so difficult to get caught and prosecuted for stealing a dog that there’s really nothing in the world to stop them from doing so whenever they see the opportunity. Local stores are to blame too. If a store won’t let you take your tiny dog inside with you then do not patronize that store. If they ask you to leave the dog outside, say “my dog is too precious to me to leave him outside so I’m sorry, I can’t patronize any stores that don’t allow dogs”. This way we can all encourage businesses to be more dog-friendly. I’ve been in the fanciest stores in Beverly Hills and there are small dogs in there. There’s no reason some funky dinky Brooklyn place can’t let people bring their dogs inside, please.
