The renovation work underway at Kellogg’s Diner, at the corner of Union and Metropolitan Avenues, looks serious. The only cause for concern, of course, is that the building is surrounded by a big new Chetrit development whose tag line is “Gateway to Williamsburg,” which will be a big mixed-use commercial and residential development. In that context, Kellogg’s is what is known as a “hold out building.” In any case, the door says “Hope to See You Soon.” We assume that “hope” is just the way they happened to write it and doesn’t really have any meaning.
