link-asterisk.jpgThe debacle of Brooklyn’s “Arabic school” has taken a new turn. “Three opponents of a Brooklyn public school that teaches Arabic filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against the school’s founding principal, Debbie Almontaser, claiming that she had defamed them by saying they had stalked her.”–NYT

If you google the names of the opponents to this school, they started the letter-writing and their outrage over it the moment the school was announced. It wasn’t in response to Debbie Almontaser’s actions. It started out based on assumptions about the school before it even opened. If Debbie Almontaser didn’t do everything well and correctly, okay let’s talk about that. But frankly I don’t want to hear it from people who seem prejudiced against all things Muslim, and predisposed to be against this woman and her school no matter what. I’ll question anything they say. They’re hardly objective. And yeah, I would believe they’d provoke Almontaser into saying things they can use against her. The fact they started the letter-writing to Mayor Bloomberg before they even knew very much about the school – uh, isn’t that proof they’d be likely to do that?
