Sad news from Brighton Beach, where the body of Akira Johnson the 10-year-old girl who drowned at Coney Island this morning was found offshore by a fisherman this morning. She was pulled under by a riptide around 5:30PM on Saturday in the water off W. 23rd Street.–NY1

My heart goes out. I was actually at coney island beach that same day with my 2 girls age 6&7. I got there at around 1 pm and left at 3 due to the fact that it was extremely windy and the waves were huge. This is truly a sad story. I can’t imagine what her family is feeling. I wished i didn’t have to read or write about this tragedy. Wished we can turn back the hands of time and this never happen. So sad. Brings tears to my eyes. Rest in Piece little Akira johnson. You are truly a angel in the sky. <3
