Fans of odd, abandoned Williamsburg real estate, know the corner of N. 7 & Berry Street well. It’s been the site of an abandoned gas station and services station for a long time, with its peeling, old Mobil sign making an interesting juxtaposition against new condos like Karl Fischers Seven Berry and, of course, the unfinished Finger Building. So, what’s going there? A new Hot Karl perhaps? A Pinkie Building? A green building? Nope. A Tibetan Cultural Center. You are not seeing things. The property is not being developed as a condo. The owners of the property, aka 125 Berry Street, made a presentation recently before CB1 and spilled the non-condo beans. It’s owned by Tibetan LLC. The olive green paint job is new.

Perfect site for their exile army. Hipsters make great haters and activists for things that they don’t even comprehend.
Cyclists who had never had the need to drive a car, vegans who had never visited a real slaughterhouse, anti-war activists who had never been in a war zone, now activists who would never visit Tibet, and of course hipsters who had never actually truly hated anything but themselves, like me!

It’ll only be a matter of time before these peace lovin’ Tibtetans become “self aware” and decide to develop a condo and make some real money for their cause. Holla!

Could anybody tell me how I would find out more about this – like who is the official Tibetan organization involved?
