It looks like there’s going to be a Park Slope Seventh Avenue “Food and Restaurant Tour” coming up in September. It’ll be happening on September 18 from 7PM-10PM. Per an email we got about it: “Please join your fellow Slopers for a stroll along 7th Avenue where your favorite restaurants (and maybe a few you haven’t yet discovered) will be sampling some of their signature dishes. The samples are FREE, so bring your friends and your appetite.” Okay. Free samples! So, we’ll refrain from any remarks about the state of the restaurant world on Seventh Avenue in the Slope.

why are you so down on 7th avenue?? you made another reference to it yesterday with the new women’s shop opening up.
7th has oshima, barrio, chiles and chocolate, barrio, la taq, moim, cousin john’s…
i’d argue that these are some of the best restaurants in park slope.
for someone who seemingly loves park slope, you sure do like to be negative about it.

You can argue that they are the best restaurants in Park Slope, but they seriously suck (besides the bakery Cousin John’s). They all feel like right out of Hartford, CT circa 1986. I live here closer to 7th than 5th and I can tell you, there are no al di la / brooklyn fish camp / sidecar / blue ribbon / applewood / bonnie’s grill contenders here. There’s not even a good sandwich shop (not including La Bagel Delight).
I got MSG’d to death from Oshima once. Moim could be great if their prices were lower and their Bi Bim Bop better (think actual meat and a cracked egg on top). Barrio has the most hideous decor but when you can only say “they have good margaritas” that’s like saying “I hear their brunch is good” which means, C+.
